5 Ways to Help Your Child Prevent Bullying this School Year

  1. Establish lines of communication and talk for at least 15 minutes a day. 
  2. Make sure kids know safe ways to be more than a bystander
  3. Know your state’s anti-bullying law and your school’s anti-bullying policy
  4. Learn how to support kids involved in bullying. 
  5. Take an active role in anti-bullying initiatives.

Ottawa County Health Department is offering a free seminar for parents of pre-teens and teens regarding the critical issues of drugs and sex.  

"Navigating the teen years has never been more challenging for parents. At this event, we will take you beyond birds, bees and booze! Our candid and straight- forward approach will arm you to confidently engage in those heart-to-heart teen talks. Among other things, you will learn about new drug trends, the phenomenon of sexting plus the consequences you need to tell your teen now!"
